The SMARTLab is a Statistics Primer, a compilation of interactive web-based course materials in basic statistics, designed to prepare you for success in your research courses.

The SMARTLab is a self-paced, online basic statistics course designed to prepare you for your graduate courses and graduate research. It does not, however, cover all concepts and skills needed for these courses, and is not intended to substitute for a full introductory statistics course.

The SMARTLab consists of nine lessons covering the basic concepts and skills in statistics:

  1. Samples and Populations
  2. Variables and Scales of Measurement
  3. Charts and Graphs in Statistics
  4. Measures of Central Tendency
  5. Measures of Variability
  6. Probability
  7. Normal Distributions and z Scores
  8. Hypothesis Testing
